MGC tick value in dollars
MGC is gold at one-tenth of GC (10 ounces). A $10 move in gold is $100 per contract, which makes gold manageable for smaller accounts.
Worked example. You buy 1 MGC at 2400 and sell at 2410. The move is 10 price units, which is 100 ticks. At $1 per tick that is $100 per contract; trading 2 contracts doubles it to $200. A stop the same distance away would cost the same amount, which is why you should convert every stop into dollars before you enter.
Micro vs mini
MGC is the micro version of GC (Gold) at one-tenth the size: a tick is $1 instead of $10. Ten MGC contracts equal one GC in dollar exposure, so a $1,000 GC result on the same move would be $100 here.
To turn a stop distance into a contract count, use the position size calculator. Inside a prop-firm evaluation, check the result against the drawdown with the prop firm challenge calculator, and read the micro vs mini futures guide.
